Buyer FAQ
Straight answers to what buyers ask us most about trained personal protection dogs, from cost and safety to delivery and the health guarantee.
Our older puppies in training (dogs under a year old) start at $10,000. Our trained adult and young adult personal protection dogs start at $30,000 and go up to $150,000 depending on the level of the dog. See the price guide for what moves the price.
A guard dog mostly deters by barking and territorial behavior. A personal protection dog is trained for obedience and controlled protection and is expected to be stable at home and around the public. Our dogs are trained in obedience on and off leash, controlled protection work, and proofing around vehicles, crowds and distraction.
Temperament is the foundation, which is why we breed for it and train for family life, not just the field. Dean and Dusty raise their own family with working dogs. Still, no dog is risk-free. Any protection dog needs a committed owner, owner training, secure management and supervision around children, which is why every placement includes hand-off training.
If you want protection now and want to see the dog work before you decide, a trained adult is the better choice. A puppy costs less up front but you take on the training and the wait, and the adult temperament is not fully known until the dog matures. We offer both. See our trained dogs and available puppies.
European working lines are selected for structure, nerve and drive, the qualities that make a protection dog, while many show lines have been bred mostly for look and gait. Our lines trace to dogs proven on the East German and Czech borders during the Cold War.
